Meet Matt

What’s your background?
I have more than 10 year’s of experience both as a trainer and instructor. I’m passionate about all aspects of training especially endurance and functional movement. I was fortunate enough to study at one of London’s premier personal training studios, developing my knowledge and understanding of advanced anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and kinetic chain assessment. My experience has helped me work at some of London’s premier health and fitness providers and international corporates.
Outside of Studio Lagree – where can we find you?
Outside of Studio Lagree, I can be found in a PT studio helping clients achieve their goals and improve their health and lifestyle. I specialise in corrective and rehab programming and exercise as well as event preparation, especially Marathons and Triathlons.
What does your standard week look like?
My standard week is that of any trainer – up at 5am every day to either teach a class or train clients. Between sessions, I am writing client programmes, class formats and articles as well as dedicated time for my own training.
How many times a week do you train?
Being a trainer can be extremely time consuming. Finding time for my own training can sometimes be difficult, however, I will always aim to train 5x per week. My programme normally consists of high intensity sessions, strength sessions, endurance running and, of course, Studio Lagree.
Whats your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure has to be anything sweet. I love cake, chocolate, sweets – you name it! Obviously, in my line of work, I try to take care of myself. Therefore, I do limit my intake but sometimes there is nothing better then having a cheat day and indulging.
What is your favourite thing about teaching at Studio Lagree?
My favourite thing about teaching at Studio Lagree is, quite simply, the clients. We are in a fortunate position where we can help people to improve both physically and mentally. Nothing is better then seeing people you have trained over a long period of time giving everything they have to their improvement.
Where will we find you on the weekend?
On weekends, you can catch me spending time at football with my 6-year old boy. We are both enthusiastic Tottenham supporters. As my weekdays can be hectic, I try to spend as much time with him and my family on the weekend. I’m also a massive fan of dining out, so I can be seen at many of the restaurants and bars around town.
Tell us more about you and how you became part of Studio Lagree?
A little unknown fact about me is that I’m a qualified electrical engineer and gave up that career to pursue my ambitions as a personal trainer. I am also proud to have run 5 marathons: London 4x and Paris once, with a PB of 3hrs & 4 mins. I also used to play semi professional football for Fisher Athletic. I love music and go to as many gigs as possible, with my most recent being the Cure and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
I was fortunate enough to be a part of the Lagree team from the start. I knew the studio was opening in London, so I managed to get into the opening auditions. It’s a fantastic place to teach with amazing clients and the most advanced equipment in the field. I’m looking forward to 2017 and helping grow the Studio Lagree brand throughout London.
